- course description
- unusual approach to teaching and learning in this course
- group exploratory labs as a core element
- prep is another core element, see HowPrepWorks
- what you'll get out of putting up with my strange way of teaching
- writing as part of your professional practice
- writing as part of the software product itself

- I'll introduce those in context
- improve meta-cognitive skills, too
- reflection
- self-assessment
- self-monitoring
- scaffolding - particularly important in computing
- so, how does grading work?
- I would prefer to go with labs and exercises only, as we are on quarters. 10 weeks gives us very few class meetings, and I'd rather not waste them on exams. Let's see how the quarter goes.
- What's the difference between 4810/6810? 6810 students go into more depth and do extra work.
- Ok, but how will that work with this pedagogy? Good question! One possibility is to have 6810 students do some outside reading on topics of their interest and do some presentations. Another is to have them do some teaching. Possibly we can combine those in some way. Think about those possibilities and lets talk.
