How To Start A Topic

Steps for Starting A Topic

  1. Click on "Start A Topic" in left margin.
  2. Fill in "Topic Name" with the name you want to assign to the page you are creating.
  3. Fill in "Topic Parent" with the name of the page you want link your new page from. You may type in the name of the page, or select it from the drop-down menu.
  4. On "Use Template" field, select "MutualDiscoveryTemplate".
  5. Click on "Create this topic".
  6. You will open a new page with your new topic and a Mutual Discovery Template at the bottom of the page.
  7. Select the appropriate course(s) that this page will apply to.
  8. Edit the appropriate page(s) with a link to your new page.

Steps for Adding Additional Form Features, e.g. making your topic private

  • You may also add other form elements to your pages. For example, if you want to make your topic a "Private Template Topic" in addition having the "Mutual Discovery Form", do the following

  1. Open a new tab or window and enter twiki.csueastbay.edu
  2. In the search box, enter "LabPrimer.PrivateTopicTemplate"
  3. Select "Raw" in the upper right hand corner
  4. Read the page and decide what features you want to include in your page.
  5. Cut and paste the appropriate lines to your page.
  6. Don't forget to hide the access controls with HTML comment syntax:
