This is intended as a place to accumulate a list of small software improvements, bite-sized scripts, etc., that are good 'stick your toes in the water' on up projects that we really need.
My thinking on how to do this is to just list whatever the project is, linked to yourself, with whatever you've thought through. Whoever wants to tackle it can contact you to discuss it. Should be a good way to share knowledge, get folks going, and get some of the stuff we need to get in place, in place.
- work on WebStatistics - tweak the display so that the top contributors from previous months are linked in, or multiple contributors to pages are linked, or something... -- -- HilaryHolz - 05 Aug 2008
- convert manual addition to twiki.full-server of new plugin entries to automated pickup via <Perl> section (see discussion in LabPrimer.TWikiConfigFiles). Sounds totally intimidating and impossible, right? Not so much, really, and a great way to learn a ton about Apache config files and mod_perl. -- HilaryHolz - 05 Aug 2008
- automate process of synchronizing serverfiles project updates into svn. Sounds redundant? Not really, because it isn't the svn portion of it that's the issue, it's the prior anal-retentive step of copying the live files to your local copy that needs to be automated. again, see (some) discussion in TWikiConfigFiles -- HilaryHolz - 05 Aug 2008
- update - using git helps a lot, and/or svk. the real answer, though, is puppet. See ManagingConfigs. -- HilaryHolz - 11 Jan 2009
- improve the InterwikiPlugin please! (one or more of following enhancements)
- not have to restart server after adding new entries
- auto-alphabetize entries in tables in InterWikis topic (duh)
- ability to reference arbitrary page in an external website (with escaped URIs, use perl package by similar name)
- much more community building oriented response to someone trying to include a non-InterWiki link, e.g., remove it from the page, rather than blacklisting them (duh) - or allow the response to be configurable by the plugin administrator
- ... what else ...
